Radiology Technologist – Professional (PSU0048)
Job Summary
The Radiology Technologist performs radiographic examinations, evaluates images for quality, and maintains imaging equipment. This position follows established radiologic requirements and regulations to ensure patient care and safety.
Representative Duties
- Perform various radiographic examinations of patients
- Evaluate x-ray software administrative settings, update and set exposure settings/techniques to ensure minimal patient dosage with optimal images
- Prepare patients for radiologic procedures; escort patient to x-ray room and verify information and body part to be x-rayed; obtain history of injury or illness to assist the radiologist when reviewing images
- Explain radiographic procedure; instruct and assist patient in positioning body part to be x-rayed, position equipment for examination and utilize radiation safety measures and protection devices to ensure safety of patients and team members
- Review images for quality control and send to radiologist for interpretation
- Identify patient for phlebotomy procedure or specimen collection
- Check for billing accuracy, upload reports into patient’s medical record, order supplies, and share images with patients
- Provide input to develop new policies and procedures
- Maintain radiology equipment; perform weekly and monthly calibrations on x-ray machine, schedule routine preventative maintenance, and troubleshoot equipment failures or call for service
- May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 7
- Minimum – $46,400.00
- MidPoint – $56,800.00
- Maximum – $67,300.00

Additional Job Requirements
Must have completed formal radiological technologist training with an accredited program and obtained American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Ongoing continuing education credits are required to remain in good standing with the accrediting body of the ARRT.
