IT Enterprise Architect Manager – Manager (PSU0149)

Job Summary and Representative Duties

The IT Enterprise Architect Manager provides university-wide leadership for the strategic direction and evolution of the University's technology environment; establishes the enterprise perspective necessary to align technology capabilities with institutional priorities, promote sustainable and integrated technology investments, and support effective decision-making across a complex and decentralized organization; serves as a senior adviser to IT and university leadership and provides direction on matters that have broad institutional impact; advances the University's ability to realize and demonstrate value from significant technology investments by establishing an enterprise approach to evaluating outcomes, benefits, and institutional impact; operates across organizational and technology boundaries, connecting strategy, architecture, investment, and institutional priorities to support long-term effectiveness and technology transformation.

  • Lead the University's enterprise architecture practice, establishing its strategy, operating model, services, priorities, and continuous improvement activities
  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture principles, standards, patterns, reference architectures, technology guidelines, and decision frameworks that guide technology strategy and investment across the University
  • Establish architecture governance and review processes to evaluate technology solutions and investments for strategic alignment, interoperability, sustainability, security, compliance, risk, and institutional impact
  • Develop and maintain enterprise architecture roadmaps, capability maps, architectural decisions, and other resources that support enterprise planning and technology decision-making
  • Translate institutional priorities into enterprise technology strategies, architectural direction, capability roadmaps, and investment considerations
  • Serve as a strategic adviser to senior IT and university leaders on technology strategy, modernization, architecture, emerging technologies, technology risk, and long-term capability planning
  • Partner with IT Strategic Partners, service owners, technology leaders, and business stakeholders to align technology direction with institutional priorities and enterprise architecture standards
  • Establish and lead the University's value realization capability, including its governance, methodologies, measurement practices, and operating framework
  • Develop and implement frameworks to evaluate significant technology investments based on expected outcomes, institutional impact, benefits, costs, risks, and strategic alignment
  • Partner with business, finance, and technology leaders to define, measure, and validate outcomes and benefits associated with significant technology investments
  • Integrate value realization practices into technology investment planning, governance, prioritization, and funding processes
  • Define and evolve the portfolio of enterprise architecture services, guidance, and resources to promote enterprise-wide alignment, standardization, efficiency, and informed technology decisions
  • Lead cross-functional architecture initiatives spanning applications, infrastructure, data, integration, business processes, security, artificial intelligence, and emerging technologies
  • Provide strategic direction for artificial intelligence, data, and process architecture initiatives, including responsible AI practices, data governance, privacy, institutional data sharing, and process modernization
  • Monitor emerging technologies, industry practices, and higher education technology trends and assess their implications for the University's technology strategy and architecture
  • Establish performance measures and evaluate the effectiveness, adoption, and institutional impact of enterprise architecture and value realization services
  • Provide leadership, direction, and professional development for staff within the enterprise architecture and value realization functions

Base Description:

Level Summary:
– Demonstrates proficient ability in work design, project management, financial planning and development of goals for accomplishing unit assignments. Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Oversees a team (typically 4 or more; no fewer than 2) full
– time direct reports of individual contributors and/or first level supervisors.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Monitors and tracks department/area budget
– May plan, forecast, and/or assist in developing budgets
– May have final signature authority for specific area
Problem Solving:
– Encounters varied and complex problems
– Helps to develop creative and/or novel approaches to resolve problems that are difficult in nature but within limited scope
– Modifies, adapts, or refines guidelines if necessary to resolve issues or problems

  • Comp Grade – 16
  • Minimum – $130,596.00
  • MidPoint – $166,536.00
  • Maximum – $202,464.00
