Job Summary

The Nursing Supervisor oversees the day-to-day clinical operations and nursing staff for assigned area. This role coordinates patient flow throughout the team, facilitates patient care in an efficient, customer friendly manner, and assigns and directs the work of nursing team members.

Representative Duties

  • Coordinate patient flow and facilitate patient care; assign and direct the work of nursing team members
  • Provide triage, phone advice, patient education, and medication administration
  • Assess and monitor all clinical activities
  • Provide training and guidance to nursing staff as needed
  • Conduct staff reviews of supervisees and make recommendations for personnel actions
  • Provide initial counseling of staff for deviances from policies in cooperation with leadership
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate plan for corrective action with staff
  • Bring concerns and ideas for improvement to a member of the Clinical Services Leadership Team for consideration
  • May provide clinical support to research studies
  • Supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Level Summary:

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Support track, performs work at Senior Support level or higher; for Professional track, performs work at the Advanced Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)
Problem Solving:
– Encounters generally routine problems with progressively more complex and/or varied problems
– Typically follows standard operating procedures to resolve problems
– May apply specialized knowledge and skills to resolve complex and/or varied problems
– Applies proven and tries new approaches when solving problems

– Works with minimal supervision on difficult work assignments, conferring with manager on unusual matters

  • Comp Grade – 10
  • Minimum – $61,800.00
  • MidPoint – $75,700.00
  • Maximum – $89,600.00
