Research Nurse – Intermediate Professional (PSU0264)

Job Summary

The Research Nurse coordinates and recruits for all research projects in assigned area, maintains enrollment records for applicable studies, obtains consent, screens participants, provides lab support in experiments, and exercises various nursing skills based on study protocol.

Representative Duties

  • Recruit project participants; assess and evaluate participants; review medical history; perform fasting blood draws; monitor blood pressure; and perform other intake tests
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies; maintain enrollment records for NIH and other funded project reports
  • Provide project support through the execution of techniques including IV placement, blood draws, anesthetic injections, and skin biopsies
  • Administer medications and monitor for adverse reactions/side effects per study protocol; educate participants about side effects of medications to report to study team
  • Process samples and other perform techniques specific to project protocol
  • Complete and submit supplier registration forms for research participant payment
  • Organize community outreach opportunities for blood pressure screenings
  • Supervise undergrad students in the completion of lab tasks and initiatives
  • Order lab supplies and maintain excel spreadsheet of products and suppliers for future orders

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 11
  • Minimum – $68,200.00
  • MidPoint – $85,200.00
  • Maximum – $102,300.00
