Building Maintenance and Renovation Services Manager – Principal Manager (PSU0341)
Job Summary and Representative Duties
The Building Maintenance and Renovation Services Manager is responsible for the leadership, administration, and operational management of building maintenance and renovation services; directs a diverse workforce of professional, supervisory, technical-service, and administrative employees engaged in preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, renovation, and building operations; ensures effective planning, scheduling, budgeting, personnel management, safety compliance, sustainability, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives in support of University facilities operations.
- Provide leadership and direction for building maintenance and renovation operations; oversee daily operational activities through supervisors, coordinators, and technical staff to ensure efficient and effective service delivery
- Monitor productivity, quality, schedules, and operational performance through reports, field observations, and direct interaction with staff
- Coordinate corrective maintenance, renovation, emergent response, and service operations to support facilities and customer needs
- Develop and implement operational strategies, workflows, and procedures to improve efficiency, productivity, and customer service
- Perform work management functions by reviewing work in progress, evaluating operational outcomes, and implementing corrective actions
- Oversee planning, prioritization, and scheduling activities across maintenance and renovation operations
- Collaborate with Work Control, project managers, and relevant stakeholders to optimize workforce utilization and workflow efficiency
- Coordinate short- and long-term work schedules, staffing, workforce planning, and project timelines
- Ensure effective implementation and execution of planning and scheduling and facilities asset management strategies and objectives
- Coordinate operational activities with internal departments and external stakeholders to maintain continuity of service
- Manage professional, supervisory, technical-service, coordination, and administrative staff engaged in maintenance and renovation operations; assign work, establish priorities, evaluate performance, and ensure operational goals and objectives are achieved
- Interview, hire, mentor, develop, and evaluate employees while fostering professional growth and succession planning
- Provide leadership and direction to supervisors regarding work execution, staffing needs, training requirements, and workforce development
- Administer University policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements in coordination with Human Resources
- Support supervisors in addressing personnel matters including hiring, discipline, grievances, attendance, performance management, and staff development
- Develop, implement, and manage annual operating and project budgets for Building Maintenance and Renovation Services
- Monitor financial performance, expenditures, project costs, and budget reports to ensure fiscal accountability and budget compliance
- Develop and implement corrective actions to address budget variances and changing operational requirements
- Prepare budget proposals, financial forecasts, and long-range budget projections
- Evaluate and approve project estimates, purchasing requirements, and resource allocations
- Plan for ongoing maintenance, replacement, and procurement of operational assets and equipment
- Develop, implement, and manage quality assurance programs, key performance indicators (KPIs), and continuous improvement initiatives
- Monitor operational effectiveness, efficiency, productivity, and service delivery performance
- Develop and oversee training programs to improve technical competencies, operational consistency, safety compliance, and workforce effectiveness
- Promote and enforce safe work practices and ensure compliance with applicable regulatory, environmental, and University safety requirements
- Participate in investigations of workplace incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Support sustainability initiatives and promote adherence to sustainability standards and operational best practices
- Represent the organization in meetings with University personnel, governmental agencies, professional organizations, and community groups as appropriate

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 16
- Minimum – $123,200.00
- MidPoint – $157,100.00
- Maximum – $191,000.00
