Job Summary

The Budget Analyst conducts budget and planning analysis and studies; works closely with programming staff to design and implement computer systems; assists in the preparation of financial materials, reports and summaries.

Representative Duties

  • Responsible as assigned for major components or nearly all facets of budget activities; participate in the conceptual development of the various budget processes and specifications for projects
  • Participate in budget and resource data analysis; gather, compile and manipulate data; may determine analytical methods to be used; identify inconsistencies or significant findings
  • Develop and analyze projections of the budget and resource implications of proposed programs
  • Prepare budget scenarios used to build the University’s operating budget
  • Explain procedures, forms and formats, definitions, and other requirements for the annual preparation and submission of budget documents
  • Prepare detailed presentations of comprehensive materials
  • Conduct assigned research for and assist in the preparation of data analysis and position papers
  • Design, development, and assembly of analytical material; provide analyses of budgetary issues, proposals, and various ad hoc studies
  • Prepare comparative and historical analysis of appropriate indicator data in support of the University’s annual budget review
  • Analyze and/or develop projections of cost and other resource implications of proposed academic or support programs and changes in programs

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee

– May validate and pay invoices
– Monitors and tracks budgets and funding

  • Minimum – $76,700.00
  • MidPoint – $95,900.00
  • Maximum – $115,100.00
