Director, Commonwealth Campus Facilities – Principal Manager (PSU0661)
Job Summary and Representative Duties
The Director, Commonwealth Campus Facilities provides senior leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight for facilities operations across all Commonwealth Campus locations; is responsible for ensuring the effective planning, operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of campus facilities in alignment with institutional goals; oversees multiple Campus Facilities Managers and their teams, guiding the delivery of high-quality, compliant, safe, and cost-effective facilities services; integrates long-range strategic planning with day-to-day operational excellence, ensuring consistency in service delivery, regulatory compliance, and customer satisfaction across geographically dispersed campuses; serves as a key liaison with senior leadership, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders; plays a critical role in advancing organizational initiatives, including workforce development, capital planning, and continuous improvement.
- Develop and implement comprehensive strategic plans for Commonwealth Campus facilities operations aligned with University objectives
- Provide leadership in long-range facilities planning, including capital improvements, infrastructure renewal, and space utilization
- Advise senior leadership on facilities-related risks, opportunities, and resource allocation
- Lead major programmatic initiatives (e.g., safety, emergency preparedness, customer service excellence)
- Direct and oversee facilities operations across multiple campus locations through subordinate Campus Facilities Managers
- Ensure consistent, efficient, and high-quality delivery of maintenance, operations, and support services
- Establish performance metrics and monitor operational effectiveness across all assigned locations
- Oversee implementation and continuous evaluation of service delivery models and operational processes
- Develop, manage, and monitor operating and capital budgets for Commonwealth Campus facilities
- Ensure responsible fiscal stewardship, including forecasting, cost control, and resource optimization
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations for major projects and operational improvements
- Lead workforce planning, including staffing models, recruitment strategies, and succession planning
- Oversee hiring, performance management, training, and professional development for facilities staff
- Ensure implementation of human resources policies, collective bargaining agreements, and labor relations strategies
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, inclusion, and continuous learning
- Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and University policies; serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies for code interpretation and compliance matters
- Oversee the development and implementation of safety programs and risk management practices
- Provide senior oversight and input into the planning, design, construction, and maintenance of facilities projects
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and construction professionals to ensure project alignment with operational needs
- Support lifecycle management of facilities assets
- Champion continuous quality improvement initiatives across all campus facilities operations
- Identify, develop, and implement process improvements and best practices
- Utilize data-driven approaches and industry methodologies to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 17
- Minimum – $141,700.00
- MidPoint – $180,700.00
- Maximum – $219,600.00
