Job Summary

Business Intelligence Specialists leverage business intelligence technologies to transform data into business insights; support the strategic design and maintenance of business intelligence applications; identify, research, and resolve technical problems; ensure that the use of business intelligence tools enhance business decision making capabilities.

Representative Duties

  • Collaborate with customers, data stewards, and business stakeholders to gather project requirements and intended deliverables
  • Design business intelligence solutions to facilitate data gathering, storage, and retrieval
  • Collect, evaluate, analyze, interpret, and translate data in order to provide actionable insights and recommendations related to business decisions, performance, and strategic planning
  • Create visualizations using business intelligence and analytic platforms; supplement visualizations with narratives detailing observations and findings
  • Maintain existing business intelligence capabilities through support functions and in-depth testing; collaborate with end users, data teams, and subject matter experts to ensure systems function properly
  • Design, develop, test, verify, implement dashboards; maintain documentation within business intelligence systems including advanced logic and formulas, stored procedures, queries, and custom code
  • Perform data modeling, statistical analysis, and mining techniques to explore and analyze data
  • Consult users in the effective use of business intelligence tools to enhance business decision-making capability
  • Build and implement solutions to support data ingestion, processing, and visualization of metrics; design business intelligence systems including integration with databases and data warehouses
  • Stay abreast of business intelligence products/tools, future features, and of business strategies and direction
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor or mentor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets and funding

  • Minimum – $76,700.00
  • MidPoint – $95,900.00
  • Maximum – $115,100.00
