Anatomical Embalmer – Advanced Professional (PSU1364)
Job Summary and Representative Duties
The Anatomical Embalmer supports medical education by managing, maintaining, and preparing human specimens for instructional use; involves applying professional embalming techniques to preserve and care for specimens, maintaining laboratory supplies, and ensuring safe and compliant handling and disposition of specimens; contributes to a respectful, safe, and educational environment for students, faculty, and staff.
- Perform embalming duties including preservation, sanitization, and reconstruction of human specimens in accordance with professional and industry standards
- Ensure strict compliance with safety, sanitary, and regulatory requirements, including those outlined by the Pennsylvania Human Body Gift Registry
- Manage laboratory supply inventories, including ordering materials as needed to support embalming and specimen preparation activities
- Coordinate with funeral directors and other external contacts to facilitate the receipt, handling, and transportation of human bodies for educational use
- Monitor proper collection, handling, and disposition of human specimens to ensure ethical and regulatory compliance
- Support laboratory staff and faculty in the use of anatomical specimens for educational purposes while upholding dignity and respect for donors
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to specimen receipt, care, and disposition

- Comp Grade – 9
- Minimum – $56,200.00
- MidPoint – $68,800.00
- Maximum – $81,500.00
