Biostatistician – Intermediate Professional (PSU1625)
Job Summary
The Biostatistician collaborates with research teams to develop and evaluate data analysis plans for healthcare research studies; analyzes and interprets biological and health science data; recommends study design, data collection procedures, statistical methodologies, and software specifications; analyzes, interprets, and creates data representations using various statistical and mathematical software; and integrates emerging technologies into research recommendations.
Representative Duties
- Collaborate with investigators, physicians, and graduate/medical students to design and implement a statistical analysis plan based on study objectives and research needs in clinical and health science research settings
- Consult and advise researchers on study design, statistical analysis strategies, reliability, data collection procedures, determining statistical power and sample size, and designing randomization schemes
- Provide statistical expertise in the interpretation of experimental results; integrate and perform novel and complex statistical methodologies and advanced models into protocols; analyze data using statistical or mathematical software
- Maintain knowledge of statistical software packages; develop, test, debug, implement, modify and evaluate new or existing statistical or mathematical software programs in support of research projects
- Write specifications for files, validation checks, tables, and calculations used to collect and analyze data from a variety of sources
- Prepare visual representations and displays of statistical results for inclusion in reports, presentations, scholarly publications, and grant applications; create programming specifications for analysis datasets, tables, listings, and figures
- Author statistic portions of abstracts, manuscripts, and final reports
- Make recommendations to researchers informed by new developments in the statistical and mathematical field associated with software and methodology
- Provide statistical consultation to physicians and graduate/medical students; guide medical students in the statistical aspects of Medical Student Research projects

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 9
- Minimum – $56,200.00
- MidPoint – $68,800.00
- Maximum – $81,500.00
