Arts Manager – Senior Manager (PSU1734)

Job Summary

The Arts Manager oversees the operation of an arts center or organization; leads and administers public arts initiatives; develops and evaluates finance, administration, and budgeting; provides overall strategic and operational responsibility for arts center, including staff, programs, and execution of their missions; leads program development, fundraising, and overall communications; supports fundraising and advisory board/committee efforts; may supervise arts facilities and maintenance, events management, and general business operations.

Representative Duties

  • Direct and oversee program development and evaluation, finance, administration, budgeting, fundraising, and communications
  • Develop and implement evaluation tools and methods for all arts programs
  • Initiate and maintain relationships within the University and community; network to better inform community of cultural arts
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with major relevant funding organizations; may apply for and steward grants and philanthropical gifts
  • Establish and implement procedures to accommodate University and student organization presenters, community arts organizations, and non-University promoters
  • Review, amend, and approve aspects of contracts related to areas of oversight; negotiate as required
  • Plan and implement long-range goals and objectives related to areas of oversight
  • Provide leadership to the community through service on community and campus boards
  • Stay up to date with research and best practices
  • Manage, lead, and mentor staff

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Oversees large team or teams of individual contributors and/or supervisors/managers
– Leads a department or functional area
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Monitors and tracks large budgets
– Plans, forecasts, and/or develops budgets
– May approve budgets for specific area
– Typically has final signature authority for specific area
Problem Solving:
– Encounters highly varied and complex problems that impacts the team and possibly the unit
– Develops creative and/or novel approaches to resolve problems that are difficult in nature
– Independently resolves complex and/or unprecedented issues and problems

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 12
  • Minimum – $76,700.00
  • MidPoint – $95,900.00
  • Maximum – $115,100.00
