Behavioral Threat Management Specialist – Senior Professional (PSU1821)

Job Summary

The Behavioral Threat Management Specialist develops and oversees the implementation of behavioral threat procedures, programs, and guidance for the University; provides education regarding the recognition and reporting of individuals whose behavior may pose a threat.

Representative Duties

  • Oversee creation and management of programs to heighten the awareness of the university community regarding behavioral threats and sound security practices
  • Provide direction on the development of behavioral threat policies and procedures
  • Identify, assess, and periodically review emerging threats, weaknesses, vulnerabilities, hazards, and risks related to the safety and security of individuals and the University
  • Develop strategies; evaluate and determine requirements concerning behavioral threat assessments, plans, programs, and education; include changes that may affect the quality of the University’s living, learning and working environment
  • Oversee the investigation of threat cases and corrective measures through development and implementation of assessment, intervention, and action policies for individuals whose behaviors may present a threat to the safety of the campus community; work with law enforcement and mental health agencies to expedite assessment and intervention
  • Collaborate with University leadership, Environmental Health and Safety, Threat Assessment Council, Emergency Management, and other applicable committees; liaison with local law enforcement officials
  • Create, develop, and oversee behavioral threat training
  • Develop, maintain and oversee enforcement for safety and security policies and other related University policies and guidelines that have implications for safety and security including but not limited to facilities use, sponsorship of entertainment and events, threatening or intimidating conduct, facilities access control, environmental health and safety, and violence prevention
  • Oversee implementation audits, security assessments, and ensure compliance
  • Benchmark with other organizations to utilize best practices and principles in the area of security and risk management
  • Oversee implementation of best practices and ensure compliance with new regulations and laws and incorporate into strategic plans
  • Hire, supervise, and evaluate Behavioral Threat Case Workers

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee

  • Minimum – $68,200.00
  • MidPoint – $85,200.00
  • Maximum – $102,300.00
