Engineering Designer – Intermediate Professional (PSU1879)
Job Summary
The Engineering Designer, Support facilitates the development of mechanical, electrical, or Computer Numerical Controlled (CNC) designs, documentation, or programs to support the projects and/or mission of the assigned work unit this position assists in the creation of models, drawings, schematics, and assemblies using the appropriate Computer Aided Design and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) tools.
Representative Duties
- Create basic solid models, schematics, printed wiring boards, circuit card assemblies, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) programs, detail drawings, assembly drawings, bills of materials, and other documentation using accepted methods and techniques
- Support basic research engineering programs utilizing computer aided design, documentation, databases, manufacturing, and/or inspection software tools
- Assist in the design and packaging of mechanical and electrical components, collaborating with R&D engineers, engineering aides, and senior personnel
- Assist in material selection, geometric tolerancing and dimensioning analysis, manufacturing and assembly process analysis, and cost-effective design
- Utilize computer aided design software to create drawing formats, notes, and manufacturing information; ensure work complies with accepted standards
- Provide work status updates to senior personnel
- Perform basic department tasks related to classified and unclassified documentation control, copying, filing, and database entry
- Respond to requests for information from the manufacturing and assembly teams

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 8
- Minimum – $51,000.00
- MidPoint – $62,500.00
- Maximum – $74,000.00
