Open Publishing Program Specialist – Advanced Professional (PSU1984)
Job Summary
The Open Publishing Program Specialist supports the establishment and growth of Open Education Infrastructure services; is responsible for ensuring that the current publications (journals, bibliographies, monographs, and other publications) are supported and maintained following established guidelines; reviews and identifies new publications; ensures accessibility requirements are met for publications.
Representative Duties
- Develop, market, oversee, and evaluate the Libraries Open Publishing services, to include but not limited to publishing environments, platforms, policies, and business models within open access and digital publishing
- Perform various publishing tasks such as data preparation, editing content, and testing functionality
- Serve as the product owner for Open Publishing software; identify enhancements to existing systems; define requirements and specifications
- Provide content and technology support to journal publications, which includes minor layout editing, DOI registration, and basic web design
- Provide content migration and production support for bibliography, topical web portal, and monograph publications
- Comply with accessibility standards, contractual obligations, copyright, and style and standard guidelines
- Compile data surrounding the use and cost of educational materials across the University to aid in strategic planning
- Explore opportunities to provide expanded open publishing services
- Foster collaboration between the Libraries Open Publishing Program and the Penn State Press
- May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 8
- Minimum – $51,000.00
- MidPoint – $62,500.00
- Maximum – $74,000.00
