Job Summary

The Physician provides high quality medical care to undergraduate and graduate students, spouses of students, and campus visitors; oversees mid-level clinicians who serve as an extension of this care. This position also provides medical education to medical students and residents.

Representative Duties

  • Perform patient care activities; administer physical and psychological assessments; order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Utilize the electronic health record to document patient interactions in accordance with legal and professional requirements
  • Provide effective communication with patients, staff, families, and members of the health care system
  • Engage in on-going continuing education and professional development; maintain medical knowledge and skills necessary to provide high quality care
  • Abide by federal and state laws/regulations pertaining to medicine, Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care requirements, and University Health Services policies; maintain a practice in accordance with evidence-based medicine and attention to patient safety
  • Provide supervision, consultation, and support for Advanced Practice Clinicians; provide consultation and support for nursing staff
  • Supervise and teach medical students and residents to support their education
  • Support University, unit, and health care strategic plans and mission; participate in quality improvement initiatives; develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Participate in various meetings and committees

Base Description:
– Supervises direct reports, but primarily completes activities, tasks, and/or projects of a functional nature.
Level Summary:
– Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge to perform own work; spends majority of time on tasks related to own job responsibilities. May demonstrate subject matter expertise. Demonstrates intermediate to advanced planning, organizing, directing, and facilitating skills. Demonstrates the ability to coach assigned employees. Assigns and reviews completed work to verify accuracy, quality, and adherence to professional standards. Trains, coaches, mentors, and motivates staff. Anticipates potential problems, issues, and opportunities; researches and recommends solutions within defined policies. May develop creative recommendations for solving problems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Professional track, performs work at the Senior Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– Monitors and tracks budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)
– May assist in planning and forecasting budgets
Problem Solving:
– Encounters moderately complex problems
– Applies general precedents and practices and specialized knowledge and skills to resolve problems
– Understands benefits, limitations and impact of potential solutions
– Anticipates potential problems and recommends possible solutions within general guidelines
Independence of Action:
– Works independently on moderately complex work assignments, reviews progress, and evaluates results
– Organizes work of direct reports and sets team priorities

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 18
  • Minimum – $163,000.00
  • MidPoint – $207,800.00
  • Maximum – $252,700.00
