Creamery Production Supervisor – Senior Supervisor (PSU2354)

Job Summary

The Creamery Production Supervisor oversees production and associated operational activities of the Berkey Creamery production facility; serves as the production supervisor of the dairy processing plant, coordinating activities related to production, sanitation, warehousing, distribution, etc.; supports the educational, manufacturing, sales, distribution, and warehousing functions of the Creamery.

Representative Duties

  • Serve as production supervisor for the Berkey Creamery, overseeing all aspects of production and distribution, as well as activities associated with operating the dairy plant
  • Develop, implement, and manage processes and systems related to the manufacturing plant
  • Comply with and enforce applicable food safety regulations, as well as all local and state regulatory requirements
  • Oversee sanitation and coordinate maintenance needs of the of facility; create and maintain a master sanitation and maintenance schedule/program
  • Supervise inventory control efforts including routine counting and reporting of ingredients, packaging, and finished goods
  • Oversee shipping, distribution, and receiving efforts for the facility as related to plant operations; manage delivery truck fleet
  • Manage storage facilities including cleanliness and organization for optimized efficiency and compliance with food safety regulations
  • Collaborate with applicable University offices in the development and maintenance of the personnel safety program
  • Track, monitor, analyze, and report production data to ensure manufacturing objectives are being met
  • Prepare reports and provide summaries related to production activities
  • Lead, direct, hire, train, coach, supervise, schedule, and evaluate employees; recommend, plan, and coordinate professional development opportunities; adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions; participate in hearings/proceedings

Level Summary:
– Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge to perform own work; spends majority of time on tasks related to own job responsibilities. May demonstrate subject matter expertise. Demonstrates intermediate to advanced planning, organizing, directing, and facilitating skills. Demonstrates the ability to coach assigned employees. Assigns and reviews completed work to verify accuracy, quality, and adherence to professional standards. Trains, coaches, mentors, and motivates staff. Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Professional track, performs work at the Senior Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– Monitors and tracks budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)
– May assist in planning and forecasting budgets

  • Comp Grade – 11
  • Minimum – $68,200.00
  • MidPoint – $85,200.00
  • Maximum – $102,300.00
