Water Treatment Services Manager – Manager (PSU2458)
Job Summary
The Water Treatment Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations, maintenance, and optimization of the University’s Water Treatment facilities, including the Water Reclamation Plant and the Water Treatment Plant; determines efficient and economic ways to manage operations, develops and prioritizes maintenance programs, and collaborates on long-term capital renewal projects; ensures that both plants comply with all local, state, and federal regulations while providing reliable and safe water treatment services for the University's campus community.
Representative Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the Water Reclamation Plant and Water Treatment Plant, ensuring both are functioning at peak efficiency
- Lead a team of water treatment operators, technicians, and maintenance workers to monitor plant systems, equipment, and processes; monitor performance, manage staffing levels, and oversee scheduling
- Develop and enforce operational procedures, safety protocols, and maintenance schedules for both water treatment plants
- Ensure that both plants adhere to all applicable environmental regulations, including DEP, EPA, OSHA, and local water quality standards
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, inspections, and compliance documents as required by federal, state, and local agencies
- Monitor and maintain compliance with water quality standards, including regular sampling and testing procedures
- Oversee the preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all equipment within both plants to minimize downtime and extend the life of systems
- Lead the resolution of technical issues related to water treatment processes and equipment
- Manage and track inventory for plant materials, chemicals, and parts needed for operations
- Prepare and manage the annual budget for both water treatment plants, ensuring efficient use of resources and cost-effective operations
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for equipment purchases, services, and supplies
- Identify opportunities for energy savings and process improvements within the water treatment facilities
- Ensure staff are equipped with the necessary knowledge and certifications to perform their roles effectively
- Foster a collaborative and safe working environment, promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for water treatment system failures or contamination incidents
- Serve as the lead for emergency response efforts, coordinating with campus and external emergency teams as needed
- Lead projects to improve water treatment systems, including upgrades to technology, process efficiencies, and capacity expansion
- Provide technical expertise and consultation; confer and coordinate with government agencies, vendors, contractors, engineers, planners, etc.
- Evaluate new water treatment technologies and recommend improvements to enhance overall system performance
- Adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions; participate in grievance procedures

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 13
- Minimum – $86,300.00
- MidPoint – $107,900.00
- Maximum – $129,500.00
