Architectural Designer – Professional (PSU1609)
Job Summary
Architectural Designers plan and design building and/or landscape project layouts. Designer responsibilities include gathering design requirements, specifications, and budgets for assigned projects; leading multi-discipline design teams specializing in assigned areas and assets; investigating, evaluating, and creating design solutions to ensure standards are safely met and to prolong the longevity of University property/systems; interacting and collaborating with project managers, occupants/users, department heads, asset team members, and design team members.
Representative Duties
- Develop designs for in-house projects
- Serve as point of contact for design consultants
- Assist in establishing and enforcing standards and design quality for University long-term goals and interests
- Guide the design process; collaborate with architects and building users to establish project design direction
- Work with University customers and consultants in developing and designing projects of every scope
- Perform life-cycle cost comparisons and other cost-based analyses for multi-disciplinary projects
- Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary design team; lead teams and provide support on construction projects
- Advise on policy and cost implications as well as state and federal requirements relating to safety, building/fire codes, The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and any other relevant state or federal agency standards
- Lead/participate on University committees
- May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 7
- Minimum – $46,400.00
- MidPoint – $56,800.00
- Maximum – $67,300.00
