Assistant Coach - (DI) – Assistant Coach (PSU1400-01)

Job Summary

The Assistant Coach assists the Head Coach with management of the athletic program; assists with all aspects of the recruiting process; helps mentor student-athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth; assists in gathering, preparing and presenting scouting materials; assists with film exchange; assists in practice planning and skill development; assists with team travel; assists with purchasing/inventory of equipment; assists in organization of sport camps; coordinates visiting team requests; compiles and maintain statistical information; supervises student managers and other ancillary personnel; coordinates team community service; represents Head Coach at events when required; performs requested responsibilities with booster club; assists with fund raising; ensures availability for media requests; adheres to all University, conference and NCAA rules and regulations while promoting the core values and strategic goals of intercollegiate athletics.

Representative Duties

  • Coordinate the recruitment and retention of prospective student athletes including prospect evaluation, prospect selection, off campus evaluation, on and off campus visits, and contacts (phone calls, letters, e-mail, etc.)
  • Assist with the mentoring of student athletes to foster athletic, academic, emotional, and social growth; assist Head Coach in establishing and enforcing rules of conduct and team policies
  • Gather, prepare, and present scouting materials
  • Assist with the organization and planning for home events, practice planning, skill development of student athletes, and game day strategy
  • Assist with the organization and planning of team travel and the purchasing, inventory, care, and storage of equipment
  • Assist with the planning, organization, execution, and staffing of sport camps
  • Coordinate visiting team requests, such as practice, hotel accommodations, meals, etc.
  • Assist with former athlete and alumni relations
  • Assist with the compilation and maintenance of statistical information
  • May independently supervise student managers, volunteer coaches, undergraduate coaches and other ancillary personnel
  • When required, represent Head Coach at intercollegiate athletics, alumni, and University events
  • Assist with the oversight and management of booster clubs and team and athletic fundraising efforts
  • Assist with the management and response to media requests
  • Adhere to University, conference, and NCAA rules and regulations
