Adult Education Instructor – Intermediate Professional (PSU0559)

Job Summary

The Adult Education Instructor works with a team of education professionals to provide career pathways, instruction, and related educational opportunities to eligible adults in local communities. This role provides program assessment processes and serves as a course/program development specialist.

Representative Duties

  • Provide education and instruction for a variety of levels and subject areas
  • Plan and conduct on curriculum/lesson plans and ensure instruction meets unit and career readiness standards
  • Engage in learner recruitment and community outreach to develop partnerships and enhance services
  • Assist adult learners in overcoming barriers to participation in classes and other educational opportunities
  • Support career awareness and the transition of skills required for a comprehensive career pathways program
  • Plan and provide student orientation and needed support to ensure student progress and achievement
  • Develop and administer assessment plans for documenting learner gains and progress
  • Integrate technology into education and instruction
  • May play a role in the coordination of day-to-day activities in support of the family pathways program; make referrals and retain formal documentation of progress
  • Enter data into applicable systems; may produce reports
  • Provide training and support to volunteer tutors

Interprets and communicates information clearly and accurately. Demonstrates intermediate problem–solving skills.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers or volunteers
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
Problem Solving:
– Encounters generally routine problems; occasionally faces more complex and/or varied problems
– Typically follows recommended course of action and procedures to resolve problems
– Applies knowledge of larger unit goals, priorities, and related procedures in determining course of action
Independence of Action:
– Work is generally monitored by supervisor
– Detailed instructions and procedures are generally provided
– Uses available guidelines to make appropriate adaptations to routine situations and refers other situations to supervisor
Communication and Collaboration:
– Communicates internally within working unit and/or the University
– May communicate with external audiences
– Collaborates closely with team members
– Interprets and communicates information, ideas and instructions clearly and accurately both verbally and in written materials intended for distribution
Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 6
  • Minimum – $42,100.00
  • MidPoint – $51,600.00
  • Maximum – $61,000.00
