Job Summary

Medical Fundraisers identify, assess, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects and donors in support of the College of Medicine’s mission and goals, as well as Penn State Health; focus on prospect groups of referrals across multiple institutional departments and divisions; develop strategies for individual prospective donors; coordinate special events and the preparation of major gift proposals; develop an understanding of the educational, research, clinical, and financial needs and goals of the College and assigned institute or prospect groups.

Representative Duties

  • Identify, assess, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gift prospects that align with the priorities of the College of Medicine, focusing on key areas such as medical education, scholarships, research, and community outreach
  • Research, identify, and qualify new fundraising opportunities and prospects, including potential corporate sponsors, grant opportunities, and individual major donors
  • Formulate, recommend, and implement prospect engagement, solicitation, and stewardship strategies based on needs and goals
  • Direct and prepare various types of communications to major gift/planned gift prospects and donors, including proposals, cultivation, and stewardship materials
  • Meet regularly with prospective and current donors, providing updates on the College’s progress and engaging them in the mission and work of the institution
  • Strengthen existing partnerships, securing new commitments and driving philanthropic success
  • Work closely with leadership, faculty, clinicians, staff, volunteers, and senior leadership on strategy initiatives to engage and steward donors and prospects
  • Support the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and events to raise funds for College priorities
  • Monitor progress toward fundraising goals and provide regular updates and reports to management and senior leadership
  • Maintain internal records and reports of contact for all assigned prospects and other constituents
  • Work with volunteers to further fundraising efforts
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends in medical philanthropy, fundraising best practices, and the College's programs and initiatives
  • May serve on community boards/committees to further engage in the community
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

  • Minimum – $61,800.00
  • MidPoint – $75,700.00
  • Maximum – $89,600.00
