Federal Security Manager – Principal Manager (PSU1906)
Job Summary
Federal Security Managers work within the Applied Research Laboratory to lead the overall safety and security programs and related activities to ensure compliance with government and University policies, directives, and procedures; develop and direct organizational safety and security strategy; oversee the implementation of efforts to minimize loss; enhance security and creates business opportunity through the control of risk; serve as the lead internal safety and security consultant for the organization; train, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the team(s).
Representative Duties
- Serve as the technical and physical security authority for the University including campus locations; function as the University’s subject matter expert in the area of physical security
- Direct security related specification, design, installation, and commissioning efforts; provide management, engineering, and technical leadership; maintain stewardship for critical security systems
- Manage and continue to develop the Physical Security Office; perform associated managerial and administrative duties required to develop, lead and improve the performance, effectiveness, efficiency, customer service, and overall productivity of the work unit
- Direct and manage the strategies, systems, procedures, and initiatives that ensure physical security for the University
- Consult and collaborate with University Police and customers on a variety of day-to-day security issues
- Manage the central electronic security systems for the University including access control, video surveillance, and security alarm, and life safety alarms
- Develop and manage relationships and initiatives with major security technology vendors and systems integrators
- Collaborate with internal and external security technology innovators in forging future pathways for enterprise-wide security solutions
- Stay abreast of current and emerging technologies in order to provide better system planning and improve overall stewardship of University safety and security systems
- Manage investigations, compliance audits, and security inspections by government agencies
- Collaborate on the management of physical security technologies utilized by University communication centers
- Direct and enhance the strategic security plan, related policies, protocols, committees, and initiatives
- Identify vulnerabilities and perform security assessments on University facilities
- Create and oversee budget development
- Lead and manage the security assessment team

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 17
- Minimum – $141,700.00
- MidPoint – $180,700.00
- Maximum – $219,600.00
