Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Institutional Policy Analyst provides professional and analytical support in the development, review, implementation, and maintenance of university policies; works collaboratively with academic and administrative units to ensure institutional policies are current, compliant with applicable laws and regulations, and aligned with the university's mission, values, and strategic priorities; monitors internal and external policy trends, evaluates policy effectiveness, and prepares reports and recommendations for senior leadership.

  • Research, analyze, draft, and edit new or revised university policies and procedures
  • Coordinate policy review and approval processes, ensuring appropriate stakeholder engagement and documentation
  • Maintain the institutional policy library or repository and ensure accessibility and version control
  • Conduct benchmarking and best practice analyses against peer institutions and regulatory standards
  • Monitor changes in federal, state, and local laws, as well as accreditation and regulatory requirements affecting institutional policy
  • Provide guidance and interpretation of policy intent and application to stakeholders; serve as a consultant on complex policy-related issues
  • Partner with compliance officers, legal counsel, and subject-matter experts to assess and mitigate policy-related risks
  • Advise policy content owners on potential conflicts or overlaps between policies to ensure consistency and compliance
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the impact and effectiveness of policies and institutional initiatives
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior administrators and governance committees
  • Track emerging higher education policy trends and summarize implications for institutional planning
  • Develop clear communication materials related to policy updates, changes, or initiatives
  • Support the design and delivery of training sessions and informational workshops for faculty, staff, and students
  • Serve as a resource to university departments on policy development and implementation best practices
  • Service as a point of contact for policy technology systems; participate in improvements to information technology
