Job Summary and Representative Duties
The Environmental Services Manager oversees and directs the environmental services department, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient operation; collaborates in strategic planning, implements environmental and safety policies, and leads team(s) of environmental services supervisors and staff; maintains high standards of cleanliness, compliance with health and safety regulations, and promotes sustainable practices.
- Oversee daily operations including cleaning, waste management, and general maintenance to ensure adherence to established protocols and quality standards
- Manage, mentor, and supervise environmental services supervisors and staff, including recruitment, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and overtime approval
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, standards, and strategic plans to ensure effective environmental services operations
- Ensure staff is trained on the most current methodologies, technology, and information available
- Evaluate and improve operational efficiency and effectiveness through process enhancements and technology integration
- Develop and enforce safety policies and procedures; ensure all environmental services activities comply with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations, including OSHA standards
- Monitor and control departmental budgets, including managing expenses for supplies, equipment, and personnel
- Coordinate with other departments to align environmental services with overall facility goals and requirements
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external customers and designated vendors; address and resolve any issues related to environmental services
- Oversee and coordinate regular safety audits and inspections; address issues or non-compliance
- Develop and implement sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing waste, conserving energy, and minimizing environmental impact; promote green practices and educate staff on sustainable practices and environmental responsibility
- Establish and monitor quality control measures to ensure high standards of cleanliness and maintenance
- Analyze and report on trends, challenges, and opportunities to inform decision-making and strategic direction
- Ensure adherence to Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions; participate in grievance procedures
