Network Planning Analyst – Senior Professional (PSU1083)

Job Summary

Network Planning Analysts review, plan, and evaluate network systems; provide documentation/project tracking and management reporting; provide tactical input on overall network planning and related projects; interact with customers and users regarding the design of information and communications technology needs.

Representative Duties

  • Design telecommunications transport systems to meet the needs of staff, faculty, students, and research projects University-wide
  • Review and analyze buildings and campus distribution systems statewide and develop design requirements, projects scope, and estimate costs
  • Assist Network Engineers with designs, including research, design support, and field verification
  • Provide network design drawings, as-built drawings, and other documentation; primarily using appropriate software tools
  • Provide on-going support for Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) software and coordinate updates
  • Consult with customers and users to complete cabling requests to add, move, or change telecommunications jacks and/or outlets; create and/or update jack matrices, design drawings, and work orders as necessary
  • Manage projects from scope development, design, implementation, and expenses through to completion
  • Evaluate potential solutions to determine if projects can be completed by internal resources or through external vendors; prepare bid notifications
  • Work with customers to schedule and fulfill their needs based on work orders assigned
  • Work with contractors to resolve design issues and to prevent issues during construction
  • Adhere to regulatory requirements, codes, standards, contract requirements, etc.
  • Research, design, and implement infrastructure modification and upgrade projects that affect physical infrastructure systems and telecommunications

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee

– May validate and pay invoices
– Monitors and tracks budgets and funding

  • Minimum – $76,700.00
  • MidPoint – $95,900.00
  • Maximum – $115,100.00
