Telecommunications Engineer – Advanced Professional (PSU1110)

Job Summary

Telecommunications Engineers design, develop, implement, maintain, and enhance telecommunication networks, systems and equipment; analyze existing networks and equipment and identify opportunities for improvement; develop solutions that meet business requirements.

Representative Duties

  • Design, implement, enhance, optimize, migrate, and maintain enterprise telecommunications infrastructure; collaborate in defining architectural strategy
  • Consult with customers to identify business and technical requirements for proposed system modifications
  • Define technical specifications for contracts and associated labor as well as contribute to request for proposal processes
  • Implement system renovation projects in collaboration with technical staff, engineering consultants, installers, and/or vendors
  • Assess existing facilities' needs for new or modified telecommunications systems
  • Develop, maintain, or implement telecommunications disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, including loss of service; provide guidance to lower-level telecommunications team members
  • Develop and document integrated test plans for certification of technological solutions, application designs, and enablement
  • Communicate with telecommunications vendors to obtain pricing and technical specifications for available hardware, software, or services
  • Install, or coordinate installation of, new or modified hardware, software, or programming modules of telecommunications systems
  • Document technical specifications and operating standards for telecommunications equipment

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Comp Grade – 12
  • Minimum – $76,700.00
  • MidPoint – $95,900.00
  • Maximum – $115,100.00
