Job Summary

The Student Engagement Specialist helps students develop and achieve realistic goals for the academic year and assists them in achieving balance between academic and co-curricular activities, as well as promote their academic, personal, and professional development; work with internal and external partners to create programs, resources, tools, and events that provide meaningful engagements at all institutional levels; supports student learning and provides high quality out-of-class experiences for students through student activities, leadership development, community service, multicultural/diversity programs, trips, and Fraternity and Sorority Life.

Representative Duties

  • Lead and facilitate the creation of robust co-curricular sustainability-focused educational experiences for students
  • Provide guidance and support to clubs and organizations on campus to become registered student organizations
  • Develop, implement, plan, and assess programs and services for the campus community
  • Develop strategies to foster campus and community involvement for faculty, staff, and students.
  • Manage and coordinate all event contracts and budget allocation
  • Responsible for managing, developing, and disseminating internal and external communications about activities
  • Assess educational programs to evaluate student learning, changes in behavior, and identify gaps in educational needs
  • Provide support for service opportunities and partnerships that are collaborations with campus departments and units
  • Collaborate with marketing team to create and develop the promotion and advertising of events on campus
  • Coordinate event planning to ensure room reservations, setup details, and campus policy regarding vendors is complete
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Works under minimum supervision on varied and sometimes difficult work assignments, conferring with supervisor or subject matter experts on unusual matters. May lead others or a team in completion of complex assignments. Interprets and communicates information clearly, accurately, and persuasively. Researches and tries new approaches when solving difficult or novel problems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor or mentor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets and funding
Problem Solving:
– Encounters generally routine problems with progressively more complex and/or varied problems
– Typically follows recommended course of action and procedures to resolve problems
– May apply specialized knowledge and skills to resolve complex and/or varied problems, with supervisor oversight

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 7
  • Minimum – $46,400.00
  • MidPoint – $56,800.00
  • Maximum – $67,300.00
