Job Summary

Market Research Managers oversee the purchase and/or design, analysis, and implementation of a broad array of primary and secondary market research protocols; assess the overall efficacy of marketing strategies; leads marketing research consultation and services to ensure that marketing and business decision-making are supported by timely, accurate, and cost-effective data and analyses; oversees the development and implementation of strategies targeted at the acquisition of prospects, students, alumni, donors, customers, viewers, listeners, fans, or clients.

Representative Duties

  • Set policies and protocol for research intake and dissemination to clients and stakeholders; implement quality control checks for research projects and communicate them to team members; provide oversight on project intake and management
  • Develop and manage collaborative relationships with partners and/or clients through ongoing meetings and discussions to determine research needs and to develop an understanding of client issues and/or challenges
  • Translate market strategy and client needs into research team member goals and projects
  • Manage external vendor relationships, soliciting quotes for outsourced services and managing documentation, projects, and budgets
  • Provide regular feedback on project status and provide regular updates on progress, issues, and concerns to clients and partners
  • Develop systems and set protocol for efficiently disseminating research to clients
  • Conceptualize, design, and deliver timely research based on appropriate market research practices, client needs, and strategic goals
  • Keep apprised of market trends, provide recommendations to what types of research to conduct, and guide program decision-making activities
  • Manage survey tools and survey resources; develop efficient and effective software tools and processes for administering surveys, data collection, and analysis
  • Provide survey methodology consultation by conferring with other researchers and clients to recommend approaches and methodologies for obtaining insightful and actionable data from surveys
  • Select, manage, motivate, develop, and evaluate the work of staff

– Demonstrates proficient ability in work design, project management, financial planning and development of goals for accomplishing unit assignments. Reviews and guides work to ensure conformity to policy and effective approaches. Evaluates employee performance and recommend development opportunities. Demonstrates ability to coach employees. Presents and communicates key university indicatives and connects it to unit contributions. Provides broad guidelines. Develops, evaluates, enhances, and/or implements quality improvement practices. Recommends innovative solutions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Oversees a team (typically 4 or more; no fewer than 2) full
– time direct reports of individual contributors and/or first level supervisors.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Monitors and tracks department/area budget
– May plan, forecast, and/or assist in developing budgets
– May have final signature authority for specific area
Problem Solving:
– Encounters varied and complex problems
– Helps to develop creative and/or novel approaches to resolve problems that are difficult in nature but within limited scope
– Modifies, adapts, or refines guidelines if necessary to resolve issues or problems
Independence of Action:
– Works independently on complex or strategic assignments
– Uses existing practices and advanced working knowledge to determine appropriate work methods for the team
– Reviews completed work of others for conformity to policy, and effectiveness of approach

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 14
  • Minimum – $97,100.00
  • MidPoint – $121,400.00
  • Maximum – $145,700.00

8+ years of relevant experience, including 3+ years of supervisory experience
