Job Summary

The Procurement Manager is responsible for the overall management of a purchasing unit(s); procures commodities, major acquisitions, and services according to all University policies and procedures and government regulations, when applicable; creates and maintains a variety of information in electronic systems; creates or supports the strategic initiatives of an academic or administrative work unit; participates on, and possibly leads, work groups and committees; participates in the financial success of the operation; oversees vendor relations and compliance and seeks out new supply sources; manages University wide programs and services.

Representative Duties

  • Hire, train, coach, supervise, schedule, evaluate, and discipline assigned employees
  • Formulate strategic directives and processes for assigned categories/areas
  • Monitor and distribute workload to ensure overall program efficiency
  • Prepare, review, issue and/or evaluate Requests for Proposals, purchase orders and other vendor agreements; negotiate appropriate modifications when necessary
  • Review and approve high dollar purchase orders
  • Research and resolve escalated Vendor related problems and issues
  • Ensure department provides customer service while complying with University policies and government regulations
  • Promote and encourage sourcing efforts to seek out new supply sources which include diverse suppliers, disadvantaged businesses, and environmentally responsible products
  • Investigate and advise on pending legal actions or vendor protests in partnership with University counsel

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 13
  • Minimum – $86,300.00
  • MidPoint – $107,900.00
  • Maximum – $129,500.00

10+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience
