Federal Security Specialist – Advanced Professional (PSU1661)
Job Summary
Federal Security Specialists work within the Applied Research Laboratory to provide and coordinate the execution of federal government agency and other industrial security programs as well as their related security activities; lead others to ensure compliance with government and University security policies, directives and procedures while supporting the safe and secure performance of sponsored program research.
Representative Duties
- Collaborate with management in the development and implementation of the security framework necessary to ensure compliance with all government and University security operations, policies, and procedures
- Oversee periodic reinvestigations of personnel clearances, courier program, markings review, classified movements, tests, and conferences
- Handle the intake of complex collateral security matters and determine appropriate processes
- Provide support to all organizational divisions requiring collateral security assistance as needed
- Develop and present briefings/training on a range of security procedures and regulations
- Manage advanced collateral security programs supporting the entire laboratory and University such as Communications Security (COMSEC) and Operations Security (OPSEC)
- Prepare for and represent facility in all aspects of collateral security inspections by U.S. government agencies
- May oversee lower-level security staff, and assist management with their training and evaluation
- May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 11
- Minimum – $68,200.00
- MidPoint – $85,200.00
- Maximum – $102,300.00
