Job Summary

IT Accessibility Consultants support the development, adoption, procurement, implementation and management of accessible Information and Communication Technology (ICT). To support the University’s commitment to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and section 504/508 of the Rehabilitation Act, accessibility services include, but are not limited to, implementation and consultation on conformance to University accessibility policies, training faculty and staff with the development of accessibility skills, and collaboration with University administrators, cross-functional teams, developers, faculty, staff, administrative and academic units, and campuses; consult on, test, and verify the accessibility of ICT; communicate with vendors on the accessibility of ICT adopted or procured; evaluate assistive technology and accessibility testing tools; investigate new technologies and provide recommendations for accessible implementation.

Representative Duties

  • Consult with University campuses, colleges, units, faculty, and staff on ICT accessibility
  • Work with units, faculty, and staff to analyze and consult on the development, adoption, procurement, implementation, and management of accessible ICT and remediation of ICT accessibility issues
  • Analyze accessibility documentation; review and test ICT for accessibility
  • Communicate and collaborate with vendors on ICT accessibility issues
  • Develop strategies for providing accessibility training and coordinate training programs across multiple units and platforms; provide custom training on various accessibility topics
  • Audit ICT for accessibility and consult on Equally Effective Alternative Access Plans when it is not currently technically feasible for audited ICT to be accessible
  • Research new technologies and provide recommendations for best practices for implementing these accessible new technologies as well as assistive technology options
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Support track, performs work at Senior Support level or higher; for Professional track, performs work at the Advanced Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)
Problem Solving:
– Encounters generally routine problems with progressively more complex and/or varied problems
– Typically follows standard operating procedures to resolve problems
– May apply specialized knowledge and skills to resolve complex and/or varied problems
– Applies proven and tries new approaches when solving problems

– Works with minimal supervision on difficult work assignments, conferring with manager on unusual matters

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 9
  • Minimum – $56,200.00
  • MidPoint – $68,800.00
  • Maximum – $81,500.00
