Job Summary

The Payroll Manager leads and oversees the University Payroll Office and is responsible for the input and output processing of payroll and related requirements pertaining to budgets, personnel, and the University’s payroll system; manages and contributes to work activities to ensure timely completion of all deliverables that includes taxes, deductions, and benefits; ensures University data is updated when necessary to comply with federal, state and local law; train and direct activities of payroll staff.

Representative Duties

  • Oversee all payroll processes and procedures University-wide, including adherence to tax and finance obligations
  • Design short-term and long-term strategies for continuous improvement to payroll operations
  • Ensure all clearing accounts are balanced at fiscal year end
  • Verify control totals and classifications of payroll; resolve discrepancies in reconciliation reports
  • Oversee the distribution of paychecks or arrange direct deposit programs
  • Ensure all payroll records and reports are up to date
  • Provide appropriate governmental reporting and compliance
  • Maintain working relationships with University Financial Officers and Human Resources unit representatives to address payroll inquiries and information requests
  • Provide information to Federal officials and Internal Auditors relating to payroll procedures
  • Lead and direct assignments of the team members; train and direct activities of payroll staff

  • Comp Grade – 14
  • Minimum – $97,100.00
  • MidPoint – $121,400.00
  • Maximum – $145,700.00

10+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience
