Job Summary

Student Wellness Specialists lead, design, coordinate, deliver, and assess University-wide health and wellness services, programs, and health communication materials; engage in research-based practice; apply health promotion theory and public health models; educate and train students on a variety of health and wellness topics using principles supporting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging; assess health promotion efforts and strategies to effectively reach and encourage students to make healthy decisions; plan and implement general wellness education initiatives for Health Promotion and Wellness; provide input on the Health Promotion and Wellness strategic plan, services, activities, and programs related to strategic plans of the University and Student Affairs; oversee all aspects of a peer health education program, including recruitment, selection and training.

Representative Duties

  • Provide individual health promotion and education for University students
  • Plan, and deliver health-focused initiatives utilizing peer health education
  • Develop and implement research-based health promotion initiatives and programs, may include wellness-related events
  • Create and implement new programs and outreach initiatives focused on general health and wellbeing
  • Develop and update peer health education procedures and policies
  • Provide input on strategic plan, services, activities, and programs
  • Complete all necessary referral documentation and database updates
  • Recruit and train peer educators
  • Train students on issues related to health promotion and wellness to prepare them to be peer educators
  • May oversee budget for program
  • May provide health education programs for classrooms and other student organizations on request

– Demonstrates advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of a particular field. Works independently on moderately complex work assignments under limited oversight, reviews progress, and evaluates results. Monitors work and projects ensuring timeliness, quality, and efficiency. Develops new techniques, concepts, and approaches and applies them to moderately complex and strategic and/or operational issues.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– Monitors and tracks budgets and funding
Problem Solving:
– Encounters moderately complex problems
– Applies specialized knowledge and skills to resolve problems
– Understands benefits, limitations, and impact of potential solutions

– Works independently on moderately complex work assignments, reviews progress, and evaluates results

  • Comp Grade – 9
  • Minimum – $56,200.00
  • MidPoint – $68,800.00
  • Maximum – $81,500.00
