Civil Designer – Advanced Professional (PSU2274)
Job Summary
Civil Designers plan and design the layouts for civil projects such as roadway repair/improvement, underground utilities, water infiltration, etc. Designers interact with clients to gather design requirements, specifications, and budgets for assigned projects. Designer responsibilities include leading multi-discipline design teams specializing in assigned areas and assets; investigating, evaluating, and creating design solutions to ensure that standards are safely met and to prolong the longevity of University property; leading teams and providing support on construction projects from inception through construction to close out; interacting and collaborating with project managers, occupants/users, department heads, asset team members and design team members in accomplishing University and organizational goals.
Representative Duties
- Develop designs for in-house projects
- Serve as a point of contact with design consultants
- Assist in the establishment and enforcement of standards and design quality for the long-term goals and interests of the University
- Guide the design process and collaborate with architects and building users to establish design direction for projects
- Work with University customers and consultants in the development and design of projects of every scope
- Perform life-cycle cost comparisons and other cost-based analyses for multi-disciplinary projects
- Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary design team
- Advise on policy and cost implications as well as state and federal requirements relating to safety, building/ fire codes, The Americans with Disabilities Act, and any other relevant state or federal agency standards

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 9
- Minimum – $56,200.00
- MidPoint – $68,800.00
- Maximum – $81,500.00
