Nutrition Education Adviser – Intermediate Support (PSU2323)
Job Summary
The Nutrition Education Adviser recruits low-income program participants and provides information and skills in obtaining a healthy lifestyle. Skills instructed include healthful food selection, meal planning, food preparation, shopping, storage, food safety, and physical activity. Participants include low-income youth, pregnant women, families with children, and those eligible for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The Nutrition Education Adviser is responsible for program planning and delivery, collecting affirmative action and evaluation data, reporting program activities, and fulfilling professional development expectations.
Representative Duties
- Provide high quality, research-based programs to promote, encourage, empower, and adopt practices for a healthy lifestyle among target audience
- Recruit program participants through partner agencies to maintain assigned caseload numbers in group settings and occasionally individually
- Prepare for programming to include but not limited to scheduling, logistics, training, marketing, lesson planning, data collection, supplies purchasing, and travel
- Adhere to prescribed food safety and nutrition practices for food preparation demonstrations
- Administer, prepare, review, and submit required reports, such as program impact evaluation and fiscal forms
- Attend required staff development activities
- Maintain participant confidentiality and necessary food safety and IRB requirements
- May engage and orient support service volunteers
- Collaborate with Extension staff to encourage participation in other programming; identify candidates for Extension advisory committees and coalitions
- Make appropriate referrals to human service and government assistance programs

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 3
- Minimum – $31,600.00
- MidPoint – $38,700.00
- Maximum – $45,800.00
