Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Tax Compliance Analyst is responsible for supporting the university's compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations; supports the organizational tax strategy and processes; reviews and audits tax documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance; ensures accurate reporting, documentation, and filing across a wide array of tax areas; makes process recommendations in alignment with existing and new tax policies and regulations; serves as a consultant to financial units on issues related to tax reporting and documentation.

  • Facilitate and coordinate the compilation, preparation, and review of tax documentation to ensure compliance with government regulations
  • Research and analyze tax issues; provide guidance to financial staff based on tax regulation knowledge related to schedules, regulations, extensions, best practices, and submissions
  • Monitor university activities to identify and assess potential tax liabilities; coordinate audits to ensure compliance and mitigate risk
  • Assist with preparation and review of the university's annual tax forms and related schedules
  • Collaborate in the preparation and filling of required federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Support responses to audits and inquiries from the IRS and other taxing authorities
  • Maintain documentation for tax positions and support for audit readiness
  • Collaborate with Payroll and Human Resources to ensure proper taxation and reporting
  • Provide training and education to university departments on tax-related matters and policy compliance
  • Review and analyze past operations, trends, and revenues; make recommendations to promote accuracy and minimize liabilities
  • Generate, develop, and interpret reports that inform future tax and financial strategy
  • Maintain awareness of and apply existing, new, and proposed tax policies and rates to the organization's tax procedures

  • MidPoint – $68,800.00
