Job Summary

The Concessions Manager coordinates volunteer groups to manage concession stands during intercollegiate athletic competition and other events; ensures appropriate staffing; oversees concession operations including customer service, concession stand and equipment maintenance, inventory and budget management, and regulatory compliance.

Representative Duties

  • Oversee concession operations; recruit, screen, select, and coordinate concession volunteer groups; determine and schedule the appropriate number of volunteer groups and staffing required for a quality customer service experience
  • Ensure concession stand workers provide a full inventory and revenue accounting; determine proper revenue sharing; report results
  • Manage inventories; purchase food, beverages, and supplies; arrange for food/beverage preparation/dispensing equipment
  • Coordinate concession stand and equipment maintenance; ensure a high level of cleanliness and sanitation; prior to event, ensure equipment functions properly
  • Resolve issues of concern including customer service, product selection/quality, equipment malfunctions, and personnel performance
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends; research, identify and test new products and menu items
  • Plan, forecast, and maintain budgets; collect, count, and deposit sales revenue generated during events; monitor, approve, validate and pay invoices; identify cost containment measures and new revenue sources
  • Keep abreast of food safety, sanitation, and other regulatory requirements; develop operational changes, policies, and procedures; establish standards; ensure compliance
  • Hire, train, coach, supervise, schedule, and evaluate employees; adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions; participate in grievance/arbitration proceedings

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Monitors and tracks department/area budget
– May plan, forecast, and/or assist in developing budgets
– May have final signature authority for specific area

– Encounters varied and complex problems
– Helps to develop creative and/or novel approaches to resolve problems that are difficult in nature but within limited scope

  • Comp Grade – 9
  • Minimum – $56,200.00
  • MidPoint – $68,800.00
  • Maximum – $81,500.00
