Job Summary

The Industry Relations Coordinator identifies, develops, and maintains external relationships with various external partners including private companies, non-profit organizations, community entrepreneurs, and government organizations to further the university’s research and outreach missions; promotes the university’s capabilities and resources; provides business consultation related to areas of expertise including technology, sustainability, and specific research fields; and promotes economic development in local communities.

Representative Duties

  • Identify, evaluate, and facilitate interactions and collaborations with external prospective partners, clients, companies, organizations, and government organizations in order to engage stakeholders with Penn State research activities
  • Create an environment of collaboration between research units and industry; design engagement strategies to cultivate partnerships, increase University sphere of influence, and advance research commercialization efforts
  • Develop presentations to engage potential partners; effectively communicate University network capabilities, resources, facilities, and accomplishments in order to recruit sponsors
  • Engage industry partners by exhibiting at tradeshows, technical conferences, workshops, meetings and/or hosting similar events
  • Negotiate and solicit contracts and agreements with industry partners; write concept papers, proposals, reports and grants
  • Conduct benchmarking research to understand industry trends; translate knowledge into expansion opportunities for the University
  • Plan, design, and deliver course content and educational programs for clients
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor for other full–time employees

– May plan and forecast budgets

  • Comp Grade – 14
  • Minimum – $97,100.00
  • MidPoint – $121,400.00
  • Maximum – $145,700.00
