Job Summary

The Marketing Strategist designs and implements actionable marketing strategies and tactics that meet defined goals and objectives and align with overall University goals and policies; reviews and analyzes market data and leverages multi-media print, publications, web, communications, public relations, and special events to design and execute marketing strategies and tactics; provides strategy consultation and services to ensure that marketing and organizational decision-making are supported by accurate data and analyses and timely and cost-effective marketing plans that favorably position University programs, products, units, campuses, or colleges.

Representative Duties

  • Develop and implement data-driven marketing and communications strategies for various channels (digital, social, content, email, events, etc.) to support business goals and objectives; manage the planning and oversight of campaigns to reach defined business objectives
  • Review and analyze market and/or institutional data to inform marketing strategy and tactical development
  • Develop a clear understanding of target audiences and their needs through a review of consumer information and the results of market research
  • Define and refine campaign messaging and positioning, ensuring consistency across all marketing efforts and communication channels
  • Articulate marketing strategy to creative team for concept development and creative expression
  • Review and monitor content creation, including social media content, websites, videos, and email marketing, to ensure align with the overall strategy and drive engagement
  • Utilize digital analytics data, third-party subscription tools, and search engine optimization tools to improve performance
  • Collaborate in the creation, maintenance, and optimization of paid search advertising campaigns
  • Establish and track key performance indicators based on business goals and marketing strategies
  • Provide status reports on marketing effectiveness through appropriate channels, and ensure that changes are made based on the results of data analysis
  • Participate in the development of campaign budgets and monitor campaign expenditures
  • Research competition and trends in marketing strategy, usability, content management, and tracking
  • May supervise staff members, including hiring, development, and performance management

Base Description:
– Supervises direct reports, but primarily completes activities, tasks, and/or projects of a functional nature.
Level Summary:
– Demonstrates appropriate knowledge to perform own work; spends majority of time on tasks related to own job responsibilities. Demonstrates baseline planning, organizing, directing, and facilitating skills. Reviews completed work of others to verify accuracy and quality. Follows recommended approaches to assigned work. Supervises assigned staff and coordinates routine work activities. Monitors employee interactions and facilitates a productive working environment. Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Support track, performs work at Senior Support level or higher; for Professional track, performs work at the Advanced Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)
Problem Solving:
– Encounters generally routine problems with progressively more complex and/or varied problems
– Typically follows standard operating procedures to resolve problems
– May apply specialized knowledge and skills to resolve complex and/or varied problems

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 10
  • Minimum – $61,800.00
  • MidPoint – $75,700.00
  • Maximum – $89,600.00
