Job Summary

Applications Development Managers oversee a team of programmers and/or developers who are responsible for applications programming; evaluate existing applications to determine technical changes, schedule projects, and resources; oversee feasibility research, estimate project timeline and cost; manage the analysis, programming, and configuration of end user applications and/or systems software, including internally developed applications and/or modifying off-the-shelf applications; lead application testing, deployment, maintenance, and evolution activities by correcting programming errors, responding to scope changes, and coding application enhancements.

Representative Duties

  • Manage the testing, implementation, modification, debugging, and support strategies for software applications and integrated platform solutions
  • Lead the analysis and translation of complex business requirements
  • Define processes including code review, design approaches, and upgrade planning
  • Provide technical leadership for advanced integrations and platform management
  • Identify process improvements or automation opportunities, justify technology integration projects with business cases, and develop and confirm functional requirements with use cases for solution development
  • Determine technology choices to include high-level design and programming decisions; establish technical and programming standards
  • Serve as the primary contact for advanced technical troubleshooting, support, and technical issues; audit and evaluate data entry, import processes, integrations, and ensure proper data quality standards and protocols are established
  • Establish and maintain best practices for record management, data structures, and development environment deployments for software applications and integration designs of connected systems
  • Evaluate new products, applications and upgrades, buy vs. build recommendations, design of data integrity, security protocols, and other technical requirements for systems
  • Evaluate the ability of system and third-party software to meet the functional requirements identified by functional groups
  • Contribute to software development efforts as a subject matter expert, reviewing applications for compliance, usability, accessibility, and security standards
  • Manage timelines and project management of all phases of technical projects
  • Collaborate with leadership, staff, and other stakeholders to design and develop workflows and processes, define reporting standards, and set appropriate success metrics
  • Research emerging technology solutions, automation tools, and commercial off-the-shelf products for use in business productivity improvement projects
  • Oversee staff performance, development, and performance evaluation; recruit, hire, and orient new staff

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 15
  • Minimum – $109,300.00
  • MidPoint – $136,600.00
  • Maximum – $164,000.00
