Job Summary

The Campus Museum Manager directs and supports the operational functions of the museum including education, finance, exhibitions, personnel, collections, community engagement, visitor relations, development, marketing, programming, and revenue generation.

Representative Duties

  • Lead vision and oversight of the museum, including exhibition development, communications, marketing, visitor services, and co-curricular programs
  • Direct all aspects of museum operations and provide leadership to ensure strategic goals are achieved
  • Develop and administer museum budgets; analyze financial conditions and recommend changes as appropriate
  • Curate exhibitions in area of expertise; serve as in-house curator for traveling exhibitions
  • Evaluate and develop curatorial proposals; oversee the administration related to exhibition agreements
  • Direct the development and implementation of marketing and educational programming
  • Participate in business development; cultivate external revenue streams, form and maintain strategic relationships
  • Research grant, foundation, donor, and other fundraising opportunities and coordinate with development staff on necessary actions
  • Direct the development of new exhibitions including research, content creation, vendor selection, and installation
  • Negotiate agreements, including proper insurance, shipping arrangements, permissions regarding credits, copyright issues, and contract changes as needed
  • Direct the growth, preservation, and conservation of all museum objects
  • Support the access and education of students, faculty, and community researchers
  • Establish goals and priorities for museum and support staff
  • Provide lectures, content, and supporting materials on relevant topics to appropriate audiences; promote the integration of collections into academic curricula
  • Oversee scheduling of the facility
  • Regularly communicate with various museum constituents
  • Ensure successful integration of operations and programming

Supervisory Responsibilities:

– time direct reports of individual contributors and/or first level supervisors.
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Monitors and tracks department/area budget
– May plan, forecast, and/or assist in developing budgets
– May have final signature authority for specific area
Problem Solving:
– Encounters varied and complex problems
– Helps to develop creative and/or novel approaches to resolve problems that are difficult in nature but within limited scope

  • Comp Grade – 13
  • Minimum – $86,300.00
  • MidPoint – $107,900.00
  • Maximum – $129,500.00
