Job Summary

The Community and Government Engagement Specialist develops strategies to promote the University’s services and resources to the community; serves as a liaison with community and government leaders, constituents, advisory boards, and corporations; monitors external policies and legislations in order to understand their impact on University relations and activities.

Representative Duties

  • Monitor, research, analyze, and interpret legislation, policies, and government regulations that impact unit operations; provide recommendations for government, community, and international relations strategies
  • Serve as a liaison and brand ambassador between University units and the community including local government, local businesses, elected officials, and community groups
  • Develop opportunities to leverage University programming, services, and resources in response to identified community needs
  • Participate on and/or lead government and community advisory boards
  • Develop relationships with corporations, board members, and partnering institutions in order to cultivate engagement opportunities
  • Direct engagement projects including funding, marketing, assessment, and stakeholder engagement

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Indirect supervisor or mentor for other full–time employees
– May serve as direct supervisor for part–time, student, and/or temporary workers, volunteers, or a full–time employee
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets and funding
Problem Solving:
– Encounters generally routine problems with progressively more complex and/or varied problems
– Typically follows recommended course of action and procedures to resolve problems
– May apply specialized knowledge and skills to resolve complex and/or varied problems, with supervisor oversight
– Researches and tries new approaches when solving problems

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 9
  • Minimum – $56,200.00
  • MidPoint – $68,800.00
  • Maximum – $81,500.00
