Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Employer Engagement Specialist leads the strategy and execution of employer outreach and relationship development; is responsible for building, strengthening, and managing relationships with employers across various industries to expand experiential learning, internship, and employment opportunities for students and recent graduates; collaborates with academic departments and career services to ensure students have access to relevant, high-quality professional experiences that support their career readiness and post-graduate success.

  • Identify, initiate, and cultivate relationships with employers in alignment with the university's strategic priorities and academic programs
  • Actively engage new employers and maintain existing partnerships to increase recruitment and engagement opportunities
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for employers seeking to connect with students and faculty for hiring, internships, research collaboration, and events
  • Develop and execute targeted employer outreach strategies in collaboration with Career Services teams and academic departments
  • Promote university talent through employer briefings, presentations, events, and digital outreach
  • Maintain an employer contact database and track engagement metrics
  • Organize and manage employer-focused events such as career fairs, on-campus recruiting, employer information sessions, networking nights, and industry panels
  • Collaborate with faculty, alumni relations, and student organizations to support employer participation in curricular and co-curricular activities
  • Develop new initiatives that connect students with employers (i.e., company site visits, industry-specific programs, mentorship initiatives)
  • Explore and establish models for corporate sponsorship and formal industry networks
  • Partner with Career Services Specialists and Academic Advisers to align employer engagement with student career interests and goals
  • Collaborate with faculty to identify employer needs and integrate industry input into academic programming
  • Provide insight into labor market trends and in-demand skills to inform programming and career guidance
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of employer engagement activities through data collection and analysis
  • Produce reports and presentations on employer engagement trends, outcomes, and recommendations
  • Use feedback from employers and students to continuously improve engagement strategies
  • Benchmark similar roles and employer engagement strategies across peer institutions
