Job Summary and Representative Duties
The Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Manager provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and administrative direction for the university's emergency response service; manages EMS Supervisors and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) staff, guides program development, and ensures that high standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency are consistently met; plays a key role in strategic planning initiatives and in establishing and implementing standards of practice, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee the management, direction, and performance of EMS Supervisors and EMT staff; direct and oversee supervision of personnel, including hiring, onboarding, training, coaching, and performance evaluations
- Provide leadership, serve as a role model, and serve as a clinical and operational resource for staff
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels are consistently maintained
- Participate in the development, revision, and oversight of emergency response procedures and ensure staff are properly trained and compliant with protocols
- Ensure operations align with state regulations, organizational policies, and accepted standards of practice
- Evaluate current systems, workflows, and operational practices; develop and implement new processes to enhance efficiency, safety, and service quality
- Collaborate with Supervisors to monitor field operations, unit readiness, and emergency response performance
- Lead EMS special event operations and educational programming and administration
- Manage unit-specific administrative functions, including budgeting, scheduling, reporting, and resource allocation
- Participate in short- and long-range strategic planning initiatives to support organizational goals
- Establish and implement policies, procedures, and performance standards for EMS operations
- Ensure accurate and compliant documentation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement
- Provide advice to leadership and external partners related to emergency medical operations
- Maintain strong internal and external relationships with key partners, including hospitals, fire departments, law enforcement agencies, public health entities, and community stakeholders
- Represent the organization in interagency meetings, community events, and emergency preparedness activities
- Promote cooperative communication and collaboration among all partners in emergency care delivery

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 10
- Minimum – $61,800.00
- MidPoint – $75,700.00
- Maximum – $89,600.00
