Print and Mail Services Manager – Principal Manager (PSU0235)
Job Summary and Representative Duties
The Print and Mail Services Manager provides leadership, strategic direction, and administrative oversight for a comprehensive print, mail, and document services operation; is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities of multiple operational units through subordinate supervisors and staff; establishes strategic priorities, manages financial resources, oversees service delivery, evaluates operational effectiveness, supports staff development, and ensures the efficient, cost-effective delivery of services to the University community; develops long-range operational plans, evaluates emerging technologies and service needs, recommends organizational improvements, and represents the department in institutional initiatives.
- Direct and oversee the activities of subordinate supervisors and staff responsible for print production, mail services, document services, shipping and receiving, customer service, and related operational functions
- Evaluate organizational effectiveness, service levels, productivity, and operational performance; implement improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and customer satisfaction
- Establish operational goals, performance standards, and service expectations
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practices across functional areas
- Monitor workloads, staffing resources, and operational priorities to ensure effective service delivery
- Provide strategic leadership and long-range planning for print, mail, and document services operations
- Assess institutional needs, industry trends, emerging technologies, and service opportunities to ensure programs remain relevant and responsive
- Develop and implement operational strategies, business plans, and service enhancements
- Evaluate and recommend organizational, technological, and process improvements to support future service demands
- Direct financial planning and administration for the department, including budgeting, rate development, cost recovery, and resource allocation
- Monitor revenues, expenditures, operating costs, and financial performance to ensure fiscal sustainability
- Establish pricing methodologies, service rates, and financial standards consistent with institutional policies and operational objectives
- Analyze financial and operational data to support decision-making and long-term planning
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to supervisors and staff in the performance of their responsibilities; oversee adherence to applicable collective bargaining agreements
- Prepare and review project estimates; assist with complex operational, personnel, customer service, and technical issues
- Promote employee development through training, mentoring, succession planning, and performance management activities
- Support workforce planning, recruitment, employee engagement, and organizational development initiatives
- Consult directly with customers, departments, and stakeholders regarding complex, high-profile, or specialized projects
- Provide expertise on service capabilities, project requirements, production options, budgets, schedules, and implementation strategies
- Resolve escalated customer concerns and ensure effective communication throughout project lifecycles
- Represent the department and its interests to University leadership, committees, divisions, and external organizations
- Advocate for resources, funding, staffing, and operational support necessary to achieve departmental goals
- Communicate departmental priorities, accomplishments, and service impacts to stakeholders
- Coordinate cross-functional projects and institutional partnerships that support departmental and University objectives

Salary Structure
- Comp Grade – 15
- Minimum – $115,860.00
- MidPoint – $144,804.00
- Maximum – $173,844.00
