Job Summary

Extension Operations Managers oversee regional extension and outreach teams located across the Commonwealth. Responsibilities involve leadership and supervision, strategic planning, budgeting and financial management, community relations and collaboration, regulatory/policy requirement compliance.

Representative Duties

  • Oversee regional extension and outreach teams; lead staff through strategic initiatives and organizational processes
  • Develop and maintain relationships with municipal leaders and community members; network, collaborate, and effectively communicate
  • Address and incorporate community and regional requests into University academic and research programs
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate cooperative extension programs; determine if programs meet regional population needs
  • Market extension programs and services for municipal approval or general public information; manage delivery
  • Develop, oversee, or maintain budgets; prepare financial analyses, forecasts, and reports; ensure funds are available for operations; collaborate on regional budget allocation/expenditures; authorize transactions; identify cost containment measures and new revenue sources
  • Keep abreast of regulatory requirements; develop operational changes, policies, and procedures; establish standards; ensure compliance
  • Hire, train, coach, supervise, and evaluate employees; identify and provide professional development opportunities

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Oversees large team or teams of individual contributors and/or supervisors/managers

Fiscal Responsibilities:
– Monitors and tracks large budgets
– Plans, forecasts, and/or develops budgets
– May approve budgets for specific area
– Typically has final signature authority for specific area

– Encounters highly varied and complex problems that impacts the team and possibly the unit

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 12
  • Minimum – $76,700.00
  • MidPoint – $95,900.00
  • Maximum – $115,100.00

10+ years of relevant experience, includes 3+ years of supervisory experience
