Job Summary

Housing Services Supervisors facilitate execution of daily housing services such as the student housing assignment process, camp and conference services, and Common Desk Operations.

Representative Duties

  • Coordinate and facilitate housing services daily activities including the student housing assignment process, camp and conference services, and Common Desk Operations
  • Assist in developing Standard Operating Procedures; implement as directed; ensure staff, student, and guest compliance
  • Facilitate execution of housing contract, apartment lease, and camp/conference agreement provisions such as room assignments, residency exemptions, the American Disabilities Act accommodations, cancellation requests, and costs and fees
  • Coordinate with conference/camp customers and planners; ensure housing needs and food requirements are met; assist with rosters and room assignments; maintain event calendar and resolve conflicts; ensure sufficient staff availability
  • Ensure daily common desk operations meet or exceed standards; post weekly work schedules and address coverage deficiencies; monitor room, key, supply, and equipment check-in/out processes; address mail, package, and delivery service issues
  • Provide a safe and secure environment for students and guests; ensure facility access and key distribution comply with University policies and procedures; maintain a key inventory and process key audits; conduct safety inspections; identify and resolve issues
  • Escalate safety and security concerns/incidents promptly and coordinate with University Police as needed
  • Foster a student and guest centered work environment; ensure quality service, a trained staff, and effective and efficient issue resolution
  • Hire, train, coach, supervise, schedule, and evaluate employees; recommend, plan, and coordinate professional development opportunities

Senior Supervisor
Base Description:
– Supervises direct reports, but primarily completes activities, tasks, and/or projects of a functional nature.
Level Summary:
– Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge to perform own work; spends majority of time on tasks related to own job responsibilities. May demonstrate subject matter expertise. Demonstrates intermediate to advanced planning, organizing, directing, and facilitating skills. Demonstrates the ability to coach assigned employees. Assigns and reviews completed work to verify accuracy, quality, and adherence to professional standards. Trains, coaches, mentors, and motivates staff. Anticipates potential problems, issues, and opportunities; researches and recommends solutions within defined policies. May develop creative recommendations for solving problems.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Professional track, performs work at the Senior Professional level or higher)
Fiscal Responsibilities:
– May validate and pay invoices
– Monitors and tracks budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)
– May assist in planning and forecasting budgets
Problem Solving:
– Encounters moderately complex problems
– Applies general precedents and practices and specialized knowledge and skills to resolve problems
– Understands benefits, limitations and impact of potential solutions
– Anticipates potential problems and recommends possible solutions within general guidelines
Independence of Action:
– Works independently on moderately complex work assignments, reviews progress, and evaluates results
– Organizes work of direct reports and sets team priorities

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 7
  • Minimum – $46,400.00
  • MidPoint – $56,800.00
  • Maximum – $67,300.00
