Job Summary

The Transportation Manager oversees daily fleet and parking operations. Responsibilities include ensuring a safe and efficient transportation environment; strategizing and developing capital plans; devising plans for vehicle/equipment/structure obsolescence and replacement; managing repair/maintenance; making purchases; negotiating contracts/agreements; directing and supervising personnel; developing and managing budgets; collaborating and coordinating with consultants; ensuring customer service and regulatory compliance.

Representative Duties

  • Oversee daily fleet and parking operations including parking lot, deck, kiosk, and shelter management, vehicle purchases, transit services, driver dispatch, parking permit allocation and sales, parking enforcement, and special event parking
  • Ensure an effective, efficient, safe, and sustainable transportation environment for students, faculty, staff, and guests; manage fleet and parking structure maintenance and repair; establish services and rates; develop and implement schedules, routes, pick-up and discharge points; facilitate ADA accommodations; devise plans for vehicle/equipment/structure life cycle, obsolescence, disposal, replacement
  • Maintain awareness of the University Park Campus Master Plan; strategize and develop capital project initiatives; contract for or conduct transportation feasibility studies; facilitate designs; prepare bid specifications; collaborate with consultants; negotiate contracts/agreements
  • Forecast, develop, and administer operating budgets; ensure fiscal responsibility; identify and implement cost containment; develop new and maximize existing revenue sources; monitor efficiency and productivity; manage financial reports
  • Develop and maintain relationships with funding agencies, local municipal leaders, campus and community members; present transportation information for approval or general public information
  • Keep abreast of transportation industry trends and regulatory requirements; develop operational changes, policies, and procedures; make notifications, develop training, and ensure compliance
  • Direct, oversee, and address issues/reviews/investigations related to regulatory compliance, customer service, personnel performance; take corrective action as necessary
  • Hire, train, coach, supervise, schedule, and evaluate employees; plan and coordinate professional development opportunities; adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions; participate in grievance and arbitration proceedings

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 15
  • Minimum – $109,300.00
  • MidPoint – $136,600.00
  • Maximum – $164,000.00
