Job Summary and Representative Duties

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating transportation operations, customer service, administrative functions, transportation programs, and/or special initiatives within Transportation Services; supervises personnel and manages one or more operational areas including fleet operations, parking operations, permit administration, parking enforcement, transportation demand and sustainability initiatives, customer service operations, event logistics, and office administration.

  • Coordinate and oversee day-to-day transportation operations in one or more of the following areas: parking services, permit administration, fleet services, parking enforcement, transportation demand initiatives, customer service operations, and special event logistics
  • Develop and execute transportation programs and operational initiatives related to transportation sustainability, transportation demand management, parking utilization, customer service delivery, and operational efficiency
  • Plan and implement transportation strategies for special events and peak operational periods; coordinate with event organizers, facilities personnel, law enforcement, municipal partners, and other stakeholders
  • Oversee permit allocation, distribution, fulfillment, and/or lot utilization processes, including management of reserved spaces and specialized parking assignments
  • Conduct inspections of facilities and operational areas to ensure safety, accessibility, maintenance, and operational readiness
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance, facility upkeep, signage, lighting, equipment repairs, and emergency operational responses
  • Serve as a liaison between Transportation Services, University departments, municipal agencies, vendors, contractors, and community stakeholders on transportation-related initiatives, weather events, and special projects
  • Oversee and promote a high level of customer service across transportation operations; serve as an escalation point for customer concerns, complaints, and operational issues; resolve situations diplomatically and effectively
  • Develop, implement, and maintain customer service standards, response procedures, operational guidelines, and communication workflows
  • Promote transportation initiatives and communicate program impacts, transportation policies, parking information, customer education, and operational updates to campus and community stakeholders
  • Hire, train, coach, supervise, schedule, and evaluate employees; oversee day-to-day work assignments and operational coverage for assigned staff; conduct performance management activities, recommend corrective actions when necessary, and support employee engagement and professional development opportunities
  • Adhere to the terms of applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements; collaborate with Human Resources on dispute resolution processes
  • Monitor and administer operational and program budgets; ensure fiscal responsibility and operational efficiency
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities, productivity improvements, and revenue enhancement strategies; assist in establishing service rates
  • Monitor financial transactions, billing activities, invoices, contracts, and procurement processes to ensure timely processing and compliance
  • Participate in procurement activities, vendor evaluations, bid preparation, grant applications, contract administration, and purchasing decisions for transportation-related equipment, supplies, and services
  • Oversee inventory management and maintain operational records, reports, and documentation
  • Recommend and collaborate in the implementation of operational improvements, workflow enhancements, technology solutions, and service innovations to improve transportation services and customer experience
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, federal, University, grant, and contractual regulations, requirements, policies, and procedures
  • Monitor industry trends, transportation regulations, sustainability practices, and campus planning initiatives to support operational improvements and compliance
  • Develop operational procedures, training materials, and policy updates to ensure ongoing regulatory and organizational compliance
