Job Summary

The Fleet Supervisor oversees University vehicle inventories, facilitating acquisition and disposal. Responsibilities include identifying vehicles for replacement; producing procurement bids; ensuring vehicles are well-maintained and in good repair; coordinating transportation plans; monitoring budgets; supervising personnel.

Representative Duties

  • Manage, maintain, and monitor vehicle and equipment inventories; facilitate acquisition and disposal
  • Identify vehicles for replacement; supervise vehicle disposal preparation and cleaning
  • Produce vehicle procurement bids; collaborate with stakeholders to ensure vehicle specifications and specializations are achievable; coordinate with dealers and licensing offices regarding titling, inspection, and delivery, etc.
  • Ensure fleet vehicles and equipment are maintained in good condition, schedule preventive maintenance and emergency repair
  • Address issues resulting from accidents; coordinate scene management, vehicle retrieval, accident reporting, salvage/sale/repair
  • Communicate with Athletics and other University departments; manage Athletic pool program; design and implement transportation plans and solutions for special events
  • Manage fuel island and fuel tank systems; conduct annual/spot inspections
  • Forecast and monitor operational budgets; identify cost containment measures and new revenue sources; manage financial statements; maintain contracts and records; track, validate and pay invoices
  • Monitor Fleet environmental sustainability programs including recycling, conservation, or waste management
  • Keep abreast of industry regulatory requirement changes; update manuals, policies, and procedures; conduct training; enforce compliance
  • Hire, train, coach, supervise, and evaluate employees; prepare schedules; communicate and enforce standards; promote professional development; adhere to Collective Bargaining Agreement; participate in grievance/arbitrations hearings and procedures

Supervisory Responsibilities:
– Typically oversees at least 2 full–time direct reports or equivalent team of part–time and/or student workers (for Support track, performs work at Senior Support level or higher; for Professional track, performs work at the Advanced Professional level or higher)

– May validate and pay invoices
– May monitor/track budgets for specific area and/or grant(s)

Salary Structure
  • Comp Grade – 10
  • Minimum – $61,800.00
  • MidPoint – $75,700.00
  • Maximum – $89,600.00
